About CFT Virginia
Our Enrollment Policy
Classes offered by CFT-Virginia are open to all employees of the financial services industry and anyone wishing to enter the financial industry. There are no assessments or membership dues.
Transfer Your CFT Credits To Colleges
Contact your local college to determine if they will accept courses with AIB and CFT credits. If the college needs more detailed information, have them contact the Center for Financial Training of Virginia. Once approved, obtain an official CFT transcript from the CFT and send it to the college for review.
Transfer Your College Credits To CFT
Obtain an official transcript from your college and forward it to CFT-Virginia for evaluation. All courses that apply to the Diploma and Certificate Program will be transferred as long as the final grade is “C” or higher. The transcript must show the course number, section, date completed, credits awarded, and final grade. There is a one-time charge of $35.00 for evaluation and transfer of credits; payment must accompany your request.

Ordering A CFT Transcript
To order your CFT transcript, you may either use the form located at the back of this schedule or forward a written request to CFT-Virginia. The request must include the names under which courses have been taken, social security number, where courses were taken, approximate years of attendance and the address for mailing. $10.00 is charged for each transcript requested.
Diploma Eligibility
CFT-Virginia offers diplomas and certificates. Once all requirements have been met, you may order your diploma using the form located at the back of the schedule. Please include a check in the amount of $30.00 for each diploma ordered. Diploma and certificate requirements are outlined in this catalog. The CFT Office will even send you a diploma worksheet so that you can track your progress. Give us a call!
Our Faculty
Members of the financial services industry who have demonstrated knowledge and expertise teach our courses. Requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (unless waived), at least two years experience in the industry, recommendation from senior management, and a genuine interest in providing instruction to CFT’s students. If you are interested in becoming an instructor, contact our office for an application form and a current course catalog.

Registration
When To Register
The registration period for the Semester in-class courses begins with the receipt of the schedule. Late registration will continue until the first night of classes on a space available basis. Short Course Registration continues until two weeks prior to course date.
How To Register
Select your course(s) from your region’s list. Complete the CFT Registration Form located in the back of this schedule and forward it to your CFT-Bank representative for approval and processing. Or you may send it directly to the CFT-Virginia Office with your payment.
CFT will notify you only if your selected class is filled or canceled. No confirmations are sent.
Textbook Distribution
Textbooks are distributed at the first class meeting. Prices are found in each region’s list of classes. Please make sure you are aware of your employer’s policy with regard to textbook purchases before you attend class.
How To Cancel/Withdraw From A 2-3 Credit Class (classroom)
All cancellations and withdrawals must be made in writing to CFT-Virginia. It is the student’s responsibility to notify CFT (it is not the responsibility of your instructor or your CFT representative). Failure to notify our office in writing will result in full tuition charges.
You will be assessed an administrative withdrawal fee of $50.00 if you cancel your registration after it has been processed by CFT and if you withdraw from class by the second-class meeting. After the second-class meeting, full tuition is charged. Mail or fax your notification to CFT-Virginia, 870 N. Military Highway, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502. Fax (757) 455-8694. Withdrawals from short courses/seminars (non-credit, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 credit classes) will not be accepted after the registration deadline. Substitutions are gladly accepted, however.
Withdrawal Policies
Online students must register at least 10 days prior to the start date. Withdrawals must be no later that 10 days prior to start date for full tuition refund, minus a $110.00 withdrawal fee, plus any incurred textbook cost. There are no refunds after the second week of class. There are no refunds or withdrawals once student has been registered for self-paced online courses
CFT-Virginia Accepts Master Card & Visa
If your employer does not pay your tuition, CFT-Virginia accepts Master Card & Visa. Contact our office for information.
Grade Reporting
Currently, final grade reports are forwarded to your CFT Bank representative for confidential distribution. If you would also like to have your grade sent directly to your home address, please give your instructor a self-addressed, stamped envelope at the end of the semester and request notification of your final grade.

- Maintaining the confidentiality of privileged information entrusted or known by them by virtue of their association with CFT;
- Refusing to engage in, or tolerate, activities for personal gain at the expense of CFT or the banking industry; and
- Communicating in a truthful and accurate manner.
CFT strongly supports the concept of academic integrity and seeks to foster sound moral behavior in its students and faculty. Academic dishonesty can take many forms, including cheating on exams, plagiarism, aiding others to commit dishonest acts, etc., and must never be tolerated. Students engaging in academic dishonesty are subject to serious consequences. Instructors who observe or suspect an incident of academic dishonesty shall bring it to the attention of the appropriate center official immediately for prompt investigation, review and action.

The American Institute of Banking (AIB) is a continuing education curriculum for the financial services industry. AIB programs are instructor-guided, include measurements of learning, and are designed to increase job skills and enhance knowledge. Completion of prescribed programs can lead to industry recognized AIB diplomas and certificates, or assist in professional licensing requirements.
